RIDE FOR A CAUSE

Our annual Ride for a Cause will be held Sunday, May 3^rd , rain date Sunday, May 17^th. This year our ride will benefit one of our young members -  Teddy Haarke.

Teddy’s diagnosis is Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) which is a rare, acute autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks peripheral nerves, often triggered by a previous infection. It causes a rapid onset, ascending weakness, tingling and potential paralysis, usually starting in the legs.  Teddy spent 8 weeks in the hospital and now does outpatient physical therapy at St. Charles along with aqua therapy. He has transitioned from being paralyzed from the waist down to utilizing a walker at present and hopes to make a full recovery in time. Estimates range from several months to a couple of years, but because Teddy is only 19 years old and has lots of energy, we hope for a speedy recovery.
